If 50 evolves conceptually and lyrically, he wouldn't be kissing ass or appeasing the industry. He would be taking creative risks. Those risks may or may not translate to better sales, but it would be a better route to travel other than making the same music from '03. I think he's running out of things to say, and perhaps his fans or would-be fans want more.
But it's cool if he impressed you with the album.
It's a better idea to keep your circle small and make sure the elements in it are on some positive shit.

I see your point, but it doesn't address the fact that 50 didn't do anything creatively different on this album. Jay didn't either, but he also has a track record for breaking the mold. Nas also has an impressive reputation of being original.
I'm not trying to be argumentative because I find some of what 50 does entertaining, but BISD didn't break new ground.
